What Happens During an Oral Cancer Screening?
Oral Cancer Screening is done in two steps. First, Dr. Paulo Viana and his associates will conduct a conventional oral screening which includes examining the mouth for lesions that can be seen by the naked eye. Next, the VELscope is used to see beneath the surface of your mouth to find any potentially dangerous growths that may have missed with the conventional exam. We find that the additional cost for this exam is very reasonable and in some cases is covered by medical insurance.
